I recently had Chris Broomhead on the Pro Mindset® Podcast, and let me tell you this conversation challenged everything I thought I knew about performance enhancement. Chris is a Dubai-based biotech founder who's pioneering peptide research, but what struck me most wasn't the science, it was his philosophy.

"You've got to become the person first," Chris told me when we discussed weight loss and peptides like Ozempic, that if you never do the work, you never become the person. Shortcut results slip away just as quickly as they come.

This hit me hard because it mirrors everything I've seen in my 30+ years representing NFL players...and candidly my own personal life. The guys who last in the League aren't just the most talented—they're the ones who've built their identity through the grind, through doing hard things when no one's watching.

Chris shared his own transformation from being "the fattest kid in school" to becoming a high-performance coach. But what fascinated me was his insistence that peptides—these cutting-edge compounds that can enhance recovery, cognitive function, and performance—are just the frosting on the cake. The cake? That's still the fundamentals: sleep, nutrition, movement, discipline.

"The peptides come later as an enhancement," he emphasized. "They don't replace the work. The work always comes first."

This perfectly aligns with the Pro Mindset philosophy. Your story, your standards, your systems—these form the foundation. Any enhancement, whether it's peptides, better equipment, or advanced training methods, only amplifies what you've already built. Without a solid foundation, the enhancements or frosting has nothing to stick build onto.

Chris described watching clients who'd never exercised struggle with 10 bodyweight squats, saying "I can't" before they even tried. But when they finally pushed through that first small victory, something clicked. They realized: "If I did this thing that was hard that I didn't think I could, what else can I do next?"

That's the real magic, not in any compound or supplement, but in proving to yourself that you can do hard things. Once you unlock that belief, you become unstoppable.

Whether you're an athlete looking for an edge, someone trying to lose weight, or just wanting to optimize your performance, remember: enhancement only works when there's something solid to enhance. Do the work first. Build the foundation. Earn your confidence through discipline and consistency.

Then, and only then, consider the extras.

The work always comes first. Everything else is just amplification of that work.
