Allister Frost: Who You Are and Who You Need to Become

I've been representing NFL players for more than 30 years, and I've learned something critical: the biggest threat to peak performance isn't the opponent across the line—it's getting stuck in yesterday's playbook. That's why my conversation with Allister Frost hit me right where I needed it.

Allister's a future-ready mindset expert from the UK who spent two decades in the corporate trenches—from Kimberly-Clark to Microsoft—and he's witnessed firsthand how people either adapt to change or get crushed by it. His message is simple but profound: If something works today, it's already obsolete.

Think about that. Everything we're doing right now—the way we record this podcast, the processes we trust, the systems we've mastered—all of it can be done better. Someone, somewhere in the world has already figured out how. That's not criticism. That's permission to improve.

The Gap Between Who You Are and Who You Need to Become

What struck me most about Allister's "Ready Already" process is how it mirrors what I teach in Pro Mindset®. He talks about identifying the gap between who you are today and the person you need to be six to twelve months from now. Sound familiar? That's what I call rewriting your story and raising your standards.

We all have that list—books we haven't read, podcasts we've subscribed to but never played, skills we know we need but keep putting off. Allister's approach? Pick one thing. Just one. Learn about it. Get curious. Talk to people who know more than you. Then apply what you've learned.

Here's what I love: lots of micro changes eventually add up to massive transformation. It's not about burning down the farm and reinventing everything overnight. It's about the daily commitment to be one percent better, to close one gap, to win one small battle at a time.

Allister identifies three superpowers that technology can never replicate: curiosity, creativity, and communication. These are the things that make us uniquely human. AI can autopilot patterns and processes all day long, but it can't wonder "what if?" It can't imagine something that doesn't exist yet. And it sure as can't connect human-to-human in ways that unlock breakthrough ideas.

When I work with my NFL clients, I see this all the time. The players who thrive aren't just the most physically gifted—they're the ones who stay curious about their craft, who get creative with their preparation, and who communicate with intention on and off the field.

The Inside Game vs. The Outside Game

Allister and I got deep on age and relevance. Once you hit 50, the guy in the mirror doesn't look like he used to. But here's the truth: the fire inside can burn hotter than ever. You get to choose—are you playing the outside game (what you look like, what others think) or the inside game (your purpose, your mission, your alignment)?

There's something majestic that comes with maturity when you finally say, "Wait a minute, I don't need to play that game anymore. I can be myself." That's when you stop waiting for permission and start living with a Pro Mindset.

One Question That Changes Everything

Allister asks his clients every Friday: "What do you know now that you didn't know last week?" If you draw a blank, that's a problem. That means you're on autopilot. You're repeating patterns. And if there's one thing I know from three decades-plus in this business, it's that autopilot is the enemy of excellence.

Future-ready isn't about predicting what's coming. It's about doing the work today so your tomorrow is a little bit easier. Plant the tree today. Close one gap. Learn one new thing. Stay curious, stay creative, stay connected.

Here's the bottom line: Be your best in your biggest moments. And your biggest moments are happening right now, whether you realize it or not.
